BTW, are you still using that old mac? We still have one of those and hubby is using the old imac g4 and he loves it, he prefers the mac over the pc.

Thanks. :-) I wish my motivation had been less unpleasant. This was done in a last-ditch attempt to fend off some pretty pernicious grudgewank. :-p

I'm afraid my beloved old G3 iMac hurled its last electron back in June of '05. After the power/video board croaked, I was able to hack it up and run the motherboard on a standard power supply for a while, but only worked for about a month. So it's been laid to rest in the junk closet.

My "new" main machine is a Dual-867 G4 MDD Power Mac. Needs more RAM, but it still rawx. :-)

Oh yes, I love Powermacs. I used to have one, it's Powermac 8500. Amazing, I still remember its version. haha. Oh, I wanna ask you something. With the new Macs, they have Intel-based thingy. I read that Macs have zero attacks on viruses and it's always the PC that gets it. We know that some of the viruses out there are written on .exe and macs DO NOT read that language so it ignores it. Now I wonder, since they have that Intel-based, do you think the new macs are susceptible to virus attack?

I'm no expert (I just started the Macintosh asylum because no-one else had stepped up to the plate), but my answer would have to be no.

My understanding of the matter goes something like this: The relative "immunity" of Macs has really just been a matter of small market share. Since winboxes have always been far more numerous, hackers are much more motivated to go after the Microsoft OSes. Thus, the main reason there are so few Mac-hungry viruses out there is simply because no-one bothered to create them. However, as Macs grow in popularity and gain more market share, hackers will be more inclined to seek our their vulnerabilities and try to exploit them.

Oh, good to hear that.

Yeah, macs are getting more popular nowadays. Seems like every movie I see, shows the macintosh computer. Um, wonder if they're doing that just for the heck of "advertising" their product? I hope no one is motivated enough to create a virus for macs.

Thanks. :-)

I was skimming the aspie list and recognised your handle from a recent comment elsewhere, so I purved your profile and found therein a kindred spirit. At worst, I am confident that you will regularly fail to annoy me, and I hereby pledge to return the favor.
